Leg opening

The width of one leg of pants or shorts at the hem, measured laid flat.

Leg opening describes the cut of the leg: a small opening means a skinny or tapered leg, a large one means a straight, bootcut or wide leg.

Measure straight across the bottom of one leg with the garment laid flat.
