Size charts powered by Shopify product metafields
Build one size chart and let each product fill in its own details, or show a chart automatically on every product with a matching metafield.
Jotly uses your product metafields in two ways.
1. Dynamic blocks: one chart, the right details on every product
A normal block shows the same content on every product. A dynamic block shows a different value on each product, taken from one of that product's metafields. One size chart can show each product's own fit note, model photo and fit scale.
| Block | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Dynamic text | The metafield's value as text. Numbers, dates and measurements are formatted for you, and rich text keeps its formatting. |
| Dynamic image | An image saved in the metafield, such as a model photo. |
| Dynamic fit scale | A scale bar whose marker position comes from the metafield, for example "True to Size". |
Good to know:
- Dynamic blocks show on product pages, where there's a product to read from.
- A product with no value simply doesn't show the block.
- Values are read from the product, not the selected variant.
- JSON metafields work too: you choose which key inside the JSON to show.
- Dynamic blocks are included in the Enterprise plan.
2. Show a size chart based on a metafield value
Assign a size chart to every product that has a specific metafield value. For example, create a "Silk Size Chart" for products where fabric_type is silk. Every silk product shows it, including new ones, as long as the metafield is set. No need to assign the chart to products one by one.
Supported metafield types for this are boolean, single line text and color.
How to create size charts based on product metafieldsBefore you start
Metafields need a definition in Shopify (Settings → Custom data → Products). Metafields without a definition don't appear in Jotly.
