Fit and sizing
Garment measurements
Measurements of the item itself, usually taken with it laid flat, as opposed to measurements of the body.
Garment measurements, also called flat-lay or finished measurements, describe the product: a chest width of 52 cm means the top measures 52 cm across.
Widths are taken across one side of the garment, so they're about half the circumference. Shoppers compare them with a similar item they already own.
Mixing up garment and body measurements is a common cause of wrong sizes, so a size chart should always say which it uses.
